ABBREVIATIONS

Ed. note: This document was attached to the R Everett Moses genealogy circa 1970. Some of it applies to that older version and not to the on-line genealogy available today. However the discussion of the genealogical (folio) numbering system is important. These numbers are seen in the online genealogy as "User Id" or following names.

CH. – Children
m. – Married
s. – Son of
d. – Daughter of
b. – Born
D. – Died
Adp. – Adopted
Div. – Divorced

Each descendant has a folio number, e.g. John, first child of Thomas and Jane Moses is #1 and Etta, eighth child that lived to maturity is #8.

John’s first child, Mary, is # 11 and her first child, Nellie is 111, and her fourth child, Richard is 114, etc.

Folio numbers followed by D means descendant died before maturity and the same number may be used for the next child.

In cases where there are 10 or more children, number 10 is 9a, and the 11th is 9b, etc.

Historical notes are numbered in the center at the bottom of the page. Pages of genealogy record are numbered at the bottom right: p. —

Index of surnames at back are Roman Numerals.

Addenda (corrections and additions) pages will be lettered A, A1, etc.
